Honors' Circle Memorandum of Agreement Signing


CKS College held the Memorandum of Agreement signing for the Honors’ Circle and the educational fund in memory of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tomas C. Siatianun Scholarship last September 27, 2018, at the Oracle Room, CKS College Main Campus. Now on its fifth year, the Honors’ Circle is a merit scholarship program which seeks to develop well-rounded achievers in the fields of Business and Accountancy.

The Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Dr. Dory Poa, CKS College president, and Mr. Jimmy See, CKS College Alumni Association, Inc. (CKSCAAI) president. This further cemented the strength of partnership between the two, as they jointly sponsor, support, and sustain the Honors’ Circle program.

The MOA signing was witnessed by CKSCAAI officers, CKS College Narra Campus administrators, scholars and their parents or guardians.

Selebrasyon ng Buwan ng Wika: “Wikang Filipino: Wika ng Pananaliksik”

Ang Chiang Kai Shek College ay nagdiriwang ng taunang pagdiriwang ng buwan ng Wika noong ika-7 ng Setyembre taong dalawang libo’t labing walo na may temang, Wikang Filipino: Wika ng Pananaliksik. Pinangunahan ng departamento ng kolehiyo at ng Senior High School ang nasabing pagdiriwang na iginanap sa Main Campus Auditorium mula 8:00 ng umaga hanggang 12:00 ng hapon.

Nagsimula ang programa sa pagkanta ng Pambansang awit na ikinumpas ni China Urmeneta at pambungad ng pananalita ni Nikki Dawn Lomugdang at Neliza Tragura na nagmula sa organisasyon ng Society of Motivators, Achievers and Responsible Teachers (SMART). Alinsunod sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika ay naghanda ng iba’t ibang patimpalak at natatanging bilang ang mga mag-aaral ng Chiang Kai Shek College.Mula sa Malikhaing Kasuotan papunta sa Balagtasan, lahat ng mga mag-aaral na sumali ay nagpakitang gilas ng mga kakaibang talento! Ngunit hindi lang ang mga mag-aaral ang nagparada ng kanilang kasuotan, pati na din ang ating mga guro ay naghanda din sila ng kanilang mga magagandang kasuotan.

Ang unang patimpalak ay ang Lakan at Lakambini na kung saan nagpakita ng iba’t ibang agaw pansin na kasuotan na gawa sa “Recycled Materials” na dinisenyo mismo ng mga kalahok sa patimpalak mulasa Senior High School. Sumunod ang pagpapakitang gilas ng mga mag-aaral mula sa Senior High School sa larangan nginterpretatibongsayaw.

Sinundan din ito ng pagligsahan sa OPM (Original Pinoy Music) na kung saan nagpamalas ng husay at galing sa larangan ng pagkanta ang mga kalahok mula sa iba’t ibang departamento. Nakamit ni Terrence Yasay ang unang gantimpala ng STEM 12G, pangalawang gantimpala naman si Marc Montero ng JPIA, at nakuha naman ni Zhaeriel Cruz ng STEM 11G ang pangatlong gantimpala. Sa paligsahan naman ng Poster Making, itininanghal bilang unang pwesto sina Klarisse Ang at Jessica Qiu na kapwa mula sa ABM, nasungkit naman nina Felichie Laroya at Katrice Chua mula sa HUMSS ang pangalawang pwesto at nakamit naman nina Karen Ibanez at Christine Avendano mula JPIA ang pangatlong pwesto.

Sumunod naman nagpakita ng iba’t ibang angking talino at husay ang mga kalahok sa Balagtasan na kung saan nagkamit ng unang pwesto sina Altimar Abuji, Al-Jabar Hnadi at Jhia Mae Babaran mula sa departamento ng SMART. Nakuha naman nina Danielle Koengchiat, Jemuel Fernandez at Vanissa Tanlimco na kapwa mula sa JMA ang pangalawang pwesto. Nasungkit naman nina Harris So, Joseph Go at Klaudine Francisco ng Society of Hospitality ang pangatlong pwesto.

Isang matagumpay na pagtatapos para sa mga mag-aaral, mga guro ng Chiang Kai Shek College at sa mga bumubuo nito ang pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika. Malaking karangalan ang inuwi ng mga nagsipagwagi sa mga iba’t ibang patimpalak sa kani-kanilang departamento. Isang bagong karanasan din ang iniwan at tumatak sa bawat mag-aaral ng Chiang Kai Shek College ang pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika para sa taong ito.

HRM-CKSians Bags Awards in 2018 Philippine Culinary Cup


Chef Sherril Lyn Chua won the bronze medal in both the U.S. Pork Category and Pasta Category of the Philippine Culinary Cup last August 1 to 4, 2018. Chef Sherril’s entry for the U.S. Pork Category was Pistachio-Crusted Pork Loin with Porcini-Mango Demi-Glace while the Pasta Category was All-Veggie Spaghetti Bolognese topped with Watercress Salad.

The Philippine Culinary Cup (PCC) is the most prestigious international competition held by the LTB Chefs Association of the Philippines, the Pastry Alliance of the Philippines and the PEPTarsus Corp. The competition is divided into three major categories: K– Savory Category, P-Pastry Category, and B-Beverage Category. It is endorsed by the World Association of Chef Societies.

Chef Sherril bested the other culinary experts who represented different local and international hotels, restaurants, caterers, resorts, and universities-- among which are Okada Manila, F1 Hotel, Sofitel Philippine Plaza, Marriott Hotel, Hyatt – City of Dreams, Unilever Food Solutions, Diamond Hotel, Global Academy for Culinary Arts, ISCHAM, and LPU Laguna.  Representatives from  South Korea, China, and Hong also participated in this competition.

CKS College 4th Year HRM Student, Harris So, also competeed in the Creative Breakfast Category. He was the only student who competed against the other professionals in this category. His entry was Yellow Rice served with Salmon Dill with Mango-Lime Salsa.

 

 

15th Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference


CKSians participated in the 15th Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference entitled: “Weaving a Historic Past, Waving to a Colorful Future” last July 19 to 22, 2018.

APRRC is an international event organized by District 3810 headed by PDRR Alexiz Tan who is a proud CKSian Alumnus. Every year, Rotaract members across Asia and Europe were gathered to this event. This year, it was held here in the Philippines particularly at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila and Philippine International Convention Center.

Among the delegates, our very own Patricia Camille Intia (BS Accounting Technology), Kirk Raymond Chan (BSBA Major in Management) and Stanley Lao (BSBA Major in Marketing Management) represented the Rotaract Club of CKS College.

CKSians Dominate in the 14th Philippine Food Expo


The 14th Philippine Food Expo is the only All-Filipino Food Show in the country which was organized by the Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization, Inc. The theme for this year’s competition was “Emerging Trends in Food Trade”.

The participants for this competition were Maria Veronica Wu, 3rd year BS HRM student, Harris Edric So, 4th year BS HRM student, and their coach/partner, Chef Sherril Lyn Chua, faculty member of the HRM Program. Veronica and Chef Sherril participated in the Healthy Pasta Category while Harris and Chef Sherril participated in the Kitchen Masters Category. The competition was held on April 21 to 22, 2018 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.

In the Kitchen Masters Category, our participants had to prepare one appetizer, one main course and one dessert, within thirty minutes. Harris and Chef Sherril prepared Okcharon with Kalabasa Dip as their appetizer, Mango-Stuffed Pork Lion with Guava Sauce as their main dish, and Fried Saba-Langka coated with Pili Casuy Nuts and Tablea Sauce as their dessert.

While in the Healthy Pasta Category, our participants had to cook a nutritionally balanced pasta dish that applies healthy cooking principles and modern preparation techniques. Veronica and Chef Sherril prepared a Lemon-Buckwheat Tagliolini with Poached Shrimps & Anchovies tossed in Walnut & Basil Oils, served with Freshly-baked Buckwheat Focaccia.

Ultimately, Veronica and Chef Sherril were declared Champion among the ten competing schools.

Aside from CKSC, competing schools were the University of Santo Tomas, Far Eastern University, Manila Tytana College, Emilio Aguinaldo College, University of Batangas-Lipa, National College of Business Administration-Fairview, Global City Innovative College, Punlaan School, South Mansfield College, and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig.
