CKSCians Meet the Examiners


The National Association of Certified Public Accountants in Education (NACPAE) held a forum entitled “Meet the Examiners” at the University of the East Manila Theatre last September 5, 2014. The goal was to orient Accountancy students who aspire to be CPAs regarding the Board of Accountancy (BOA) and changes in the Board Exams. The forum-symposium was attended by Accounting teachers and students from different schools in the National Capital Region (NCR). CKS College was represented by Mr. George Ong, Mr. Ankiat Byron Co, Mr. Jan Marcus Tang, and third and fourth year BSA students.

Mr. Joel L. Tan-Torres, BOA chairperson, discussed present and future BOA projects. He also discussed important details regarding the CPA Board Examinations and planned changes, such as the system of administration and subjects to be added or removed. Mr. Tan-Torres also discussed the importance of enhancing the quality of Accountancy education, and the need for Accountancy professors to be BOA-accredited.

Education Students Go to China


Last September 5, 2014, the 3rd and 4th year students of the CKS College Bachelor of Secondary Education program major in Chinese Language Teaching, also known as 2+2 program, had their send-off gathering at the 4th floor AVR of Chiang Kai Shek College Narra campus. As part of their scholarship program, they shall undergo further training at the Fujian Normal University in China. Chiang Kai Shek College president, Dr. Dory Poa, was present in the occasion, together with the dean of Education and Graduate studies, Dr. Rolance Chua.

Dr. Dory Poa gave her inspirational message to show her support and to motivate the students to do their best while studying in China, while Dr. Rolance Chua awarded the students with the school’s financial support—constituting their plane tickets, advance five-month allowance of 750 RMB per month, and visa and airport terminal fees. The 2+2 program will enrich the students'  knowledge of the Chinese language and culture and the latest techniques in teaching the Chinese language for them to be notable Chinese teachers in the Philippines. 

Accountancy: The Path of Great Opportunities


On September 3, 2014, CKSC JPIA launched its first seminar, entitled “Different Career Opportunities for Accounting Graduates,” with guest speaker from KPMG, Mr. Anthony Sia, Advisory Associate. He was accompanied by Ms. Ramona Manaslasan, Human Resource Manager. 

They enlightened the students on opportunities for future CPAs. They discussed the different career paths under the four sectors of accounting: Public, Government, Academe, and Commerce & Industry. Also, they tackled the entry-level, mid-level, and top-level positions available in each sector giving emphasis to the departments in the public accounting sector. After the discussion, the floor was opened for questions. The questions varied from effective study habits to personal career growth in the field of accounting. In all, the seminar left everyone with a broader view of the path of great opportunities ahead of them.

Marketing Trends


 

Last August 18, the Junior Marketing Association sponsored a Marketing Trends seminar, which was held on the 7th floor of the FBAS Building. The speaker was the renowned  GNN TV host  and trainer of top companies, like San Miguel and PLDT, Mr. Boom San Agustin. The talk was  about the Digital Age and how those videos, Youtube and others affect our country, as well as  the market, and how to deal with them. Mr. Boom also shared his experiences during his stint as a trainer and a speaker. The talk really inspired the attendees also on how to live life because of the experiences that Mr. San Agustin had shared.

Mr. Stanley Chi on Social Media Management


Last August 15, 2014, the Junior Marketing Association organized a seminar entitled "Social Media Management". Mr. Stanley Chi, branded as Mr. Suplado, talked about identifying and treating one's haters, shared his experiences on dealing with such kind of people, answered some questions, and gave in for a photo opportunity with the seminar attendees.
