JPIA's First Free Tutorial Session for the Semester

On June 20, 2014, the CKS College Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA), through officers Ms. Lynnette Chung and Mr. Charles Justin Kho, launched its first official tutorial session for the sophomores this S.Y. 2014-2015. One of the most difficult transitions in accountancy education program is going from basic accounting to financial accounting. The tutors reviewed and prepared for their tutorial to make sure it is accurate, updated and relevant in order that their fellow Accountancy students may understand in depth their new accounting subjects.

JPIA General Assembly and Outreach

The CKSC Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants welcomed the month of July by holding their first general assembly last Tuesday, July 1, 2014. The program was hosted by Ms. Justine Rivera, VP-External, starting with the invocation followed by the singing of the National Anthem, afterwhich Ms. Lynnette Chung, VP Internal, delivered her opening remarks. Before the fun began, a brief audio-visual presentation was shown to display the previous year’s activities and to introduce the new batch of officers.

A short motivational speech was given by JPIA adviser, Mr. Ankiat Byron Co. He reminded the freshmen to study hard for their year-end qualifying exam and also wished the seniors good luck in their preparations for the board exams. The officers prepared fun and exciting games like Human Bingo, Capture the Flag, and Quiz Bee Relay for all the BSA and BSAT students to enjoy and for them to get to know the other members of the organization. The members also enjoyed free snacks and picture-taking at the photo booth set up at the corner of the room. To formally end the program, Ms. Elyssa Bianca Ng, JPIA President, expressed gratitude in behalf of all the officers to the people who spared some time to join the small gathering.

The following day, JPIA officers donated boxes of pastries and juice packs to some of the SPED students of General M. Hizon Elementary School in Abad Santos, Tondo, Manila. The food and drinks were able to accommodate two classrooms. The smiles on the children’s faces while the officers were distributing the goods were indeed priceless.  It was certainly a memorable and heart-warming experience for the officers of JPIA to have been able to help even in this small way.
