JMA General Assembly

Last July 3, 2014, the Junior Marketing Association had its first General Assembly at the 7th floor of the CKS College campus. Free lanyards were given out at the registration and the members had their photos taken at the photo booth. The Organization Adviser Mr. Ryan Lao gave a welcoming and exciting speech to beef up the members. Next, the officers were introduced and the President of the Organization Mr. Wesley Dytan shared and discussed the plans and the upcoming seminars and activities that the Organization is going to offer. Moreover, Mary Grace Khu shared the upcoming events of the Philippine Junior Marketing Organization (PJMA). The said Assembly would not be complete without the games, which every participant enjoyed.

The Future Educator Society’s One of a Kind General Assembly

The Future Educators' Society held its general assembly on the 30th of June, at two in the afternoon at the 7th floor of Chiang Kai Shek College Faculty of Business, Arts, and Sciences.

The FES general assembly was attended by Dr. Dory Poa, the school president, Dr. Rolance Chua, Dean of Education, Mr. Fan,and the FES members, including the 3rd year and 4th year students.

Rei-ann Shu and Audrey Tse, both 2nd year Education students hosted the assembly, which started with the invocation led by the selected freshmen who sang a Christian song and followed by the opening remarks of Dr. Poa. Afterwards, Mr. Fan announced the schedules and prices for the HSK test.

Other parts of the event were the meet and greet, whereby the higher batches shared their wonderful and enriching trip to China, the photo opportunity moment, and the games. The event that was far different from the usual assemblies was indeed a success.

CKSC HRM Students are 2nd Placers in Vegetarian Cooking Challenge

On June 29, 2014, CKS College HRM students, Ms. Kim Nicole Tan (蔡麗金) and Ms. Joyce Fernandez (劉妙智) participated in the “Go Green, Go Veggie” cooking challenge, which was organized by the Fo Guang Shan (佛光山) Community and the Buddha’s Light International Association. The competition was held at the Mabuhay Temple, Malate Manila. The two participants were trained by Chef Sherril Chua (蔡麗安), assisted by fellow student and CKSC-HRM Society president, Mr. Mikhail Dominik Riano (陳志勇).

Each of the teams had to present a four course vegetarian meal (appetizer, soup, main course & dessert) for the judges, and they had to present three plates for each dish within one hour and thirty minutes. (Pictures below are the dishes that the CKS College team presented to the judges).

Appetizer: Sweet, Sour & Spicy Salsa on Lettuce

Soup: Tom Yum in Coconut Water

Main Course: Avocado Pesto Pasta w/ Curry Bread

Dessert: Banana Chocolate Cake

At the end of the event, Philippine Cultural College was declared 3rd placer, with Chiang Kai Shek College taking 2nd place, and Philippine Women's University taking first place.

CKSCian in the National Executive Board of PJMA

The Philippine Junior Marketing Association (PJMA) is the official youth affiliate of the Philippine Marketing Association (PMA) and the national alliance amongst different Junior Marketing Association (JMA) organizations from different colleges and universities within Metro Manila and across the country. PJMA now has 123 member schools and a member base of over 30,000 students nationwide.

Yearly, they have the Synergy Training Program. Marketing students from different universities and colleges within Metro Manila and nearby provinces participate in this program to become trainees under the National Executive Board. These trainees will be honed and trained in different departments of the organization to develop their leadership, communication, event skills and more as well as their commitment to become the next National Executive Board for the following academic year.

Out of 178 applicants, 50 were screened and chosen as the Synergy Trainees for Academic Year 2013-2014. They took significant parts in every event organized by PJMA, like the General Assembly, Chapter Events, GOLTS and Madworld. After Madworld 2014, The trainees were filtered down to the Top 20 Synergy Trainees.

The top 20 trainees presented and defended their chosen positions to be the National Executive Board for Academic Year 2014-2015. CKS College BSBA-Marketing Management 4th year student, Mary Grace khu, is now the PJMA Vice President for Marketing (A.Y. 2014-2015). They will be officially inducted on July 25 at the Stratmark Conference 2014, themed "TurnAround Marketing," at CCF, Pasig City.

CKSCian Mary Grace Khu Wins Philippine Watercube Cup

The 2014 Watercube Cup Overseas Chinese Youth Singing Competition (Philippine Elimination Round) was held last June 15, 2014 at the FFCCCII auditorium. Out of 27 contestants (elimination round), 10 were able to got into the final round of the competition. Mary Grace Khu, CKS College 4^th year BSBA-Marketing Management student bagged the 1^st place together with the winners namely Jason Justin Khu (2^nd place), Jazel Joyce Khu (3^rd place), Wilber Jan Ching (4^th place) and Wilhem Julio (5^th place).

Both Mary Grace and Jason will be representing the country in Beijing for the World Watercube Competition from July 20 to August 08, 2014.
