Business Expo 2014 : Sustainable Business Success through Innovation


In celebration of Chiang Kai Shek College’s 75th foundation anniversary, the CKS College School of Business, Accountancy, and HRM held its annual Business Expo last September 22 and 23, 2014 at the CKSC Narra Campus. The theme for this year’s Business Expo was “Sustainable Business Success Through Innovation.” It brought together more than 30 exhibitors, coming from both the industry and the CKS College community.

This event was organized by 5 student organizations, namely: Junior Marketing Association (JMA), Junior Management Society (JMS), Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA), Hotel and Restaurant Management Society (HRMS), and the CKS College Student Executive Council (SEC).  Innovative products created by Business, Entrepreneurship, and HRM students were featured alongside company exhibitors, such as: Dakasi, Red Baron Ribs and Steaks, Regent Food Corporation, King Sue Ham, Secosana, Mr. Sisig and Shawarma, DLC, Chick and Fries, Kimian’s, OWL, NYFD, and Thermomix.

The Expo formally started with a ribbon cutting ceremony, graced by: Mr. Philip Chan, CKSC Alumni Association President; Mr. Benjamin Tan, CKSC Alumni Association Vice President; Mr. Evans Chiu, CKSC Alumni Association Secretary General; Dr. Glendora Tiu, Director of the Office for English Academic Instruction; Mr. Melchor Te, Registrar; Mr. Judelio Yap, Director for Student Life; Mrs. Felisa Wu Dy, Director for Developmental Studies; Atty. Danny Chan, Director of the Office for Administrative Affairs; and Chiang Kai Shek College administrators, department heads, office staff, faculty members, deans, program coordinators, and students. Covering the event were media partners World News and Chinoy TV.

CKSC president Dr. Dory Poa gave her opening remarks and emphasized how the  Business Expo can provide opportunities for business success, especially to the exhibiting students.  A wide selection of products like food, wardrobe, bags, and fashion accessories were exhibited. The CKS College Business Expo 2014 was sponsored by CKSC C-Shop, Eng Bee Tin, PG Flex Linoleum, Lee Cooper Philippines, Sun Cellular, Freego, Bobson, Wrangler, Fresh Gear, Faber Castell, Davies, Resorts World Manila, Ai-Non, Hypertech, Big Chill, C&E Bookshop, and Slappy Cakes.  

More than 1,000 visitors attended the two-day expo, with most of them taking home prizes and freebies from generous event sponsors. John Jacob Ang, 3rd year CKS High School student, won the top prize, which was an overnight stay for two at Remington Hotel, courtesy of Resorts World Manila. 2nd Year CKS College student, Harly Castro, won a handset with SIM card, courtesy of Sun Cellular. Other prizes given out were gift certificates from Eng Bee Tin, Slappy Cakes, and Big Chill, mugs and assorted merchandise from C-Shop, Resorts World mugs, Wrangler gym bags, C&E Bookshop, PG Flex gym bags, Big Chill tumblers, and Lee Cooper shirts and jeans.

Business Expo 2014 : September 22 and 23


For the safety of exhibitors, visitors, and guests, the Business Expo 2014 was rescheduled to September 22 and 23. Hope to see you there!

 

Business Expo 2014


In celebration of the 75th foundation anniversary of Chiang Kai Shek College, the CKS College School of Business, Accountancy, and HRM, in cooperation with CKS College business-oriented organizations (Hotel and Restaurant Management Society, Junior Marketing Association, Junior Management Society, and the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants), shall be holding a Business Expo on September 19 and 20 at the CKSC Narra Campus. Event hours shall be from 9:00AM to 4:30PM. The Business Expo is open to the public.

The theme for the Business Expo 2014 is "Sustainable Business Sucess through Innovation." CKS College Entrepreneurship students shall showcase products they personally designed and produced. Exhibiting alongside them are Dakasi, Precious Herbal Pillwo, Red Baron Ribs and Steaks, Regent Foods Corporation, Secosana, Mr. Sisig and Shawarma, DLS, Chick and Fries, OnTrip Food Services, Owl, D-nee, NYFD, King Sue, and Thermomix Philippines. 

Visitors shall be given a chance to win prizes from the event's sponsors. The sponsors of the CKS College Business Expo 2014 are C-Shop, Eng Bee Tin, PG Flex, Lee Cooper, Freego, Faber Castell, Davies Paint, Fresh Gear, Resorts World Manila, Ainon Baby Products, Hypertech Wire and Cables, Big Chill, Slappy Cakes, Bobson, and Wrangler. The media partners for the said event are ChinoyTV and World News.

A ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:30AM on September 19 shall mark the opening of the Business Expo.

Mid-Autum Festival Celebration at SM City Malls


SM Supermalls, in cooperation with the Chinese Embassy, invited CKS College to be part of their Mid-autumn Festival celebration at SM City San Lazaro on September 7 and at SM City Manila on September 8.

The programs featured performances from talented students of CKS College: a graceful dance number from the Chinese Dance Troupe, amazing wushu exhibition from the CKSC Wushu team, and a mooncake baking demonstration by Chef Sherril Chua, assisted by CKS College Hotel and Restaurant Management students, Janssen Dy and Anne Kristine Co. After the demonstration, the audience was treated to delicious mooncake prepared by the team. The winners of Mr. and Ms. Chinatown 2014 were also invited to join the celebration by sharing some of their advocacies in the foundation and how they continue to help bridge the gap between the Filipino and Chinese cultures.

The event was covered by Chinoy TV. The SM San Lazaro program was hosted by CKS College HRM student, Dominik Riano. The SM Manila program was hosted by CKS College BSBA-Marketing Management student, Mary Grace Khu. Indeed, both afternoons showed how rich and vibrant Chinese culture is.

CKSCians Meet the Examiners


The National Association of Certified Public Accountants in Education (NACPAE) held a forum entitled “Meet the Examiners” at the University of the East Manila Theatre last September 5, 2014. The goal was to orient Accountancy students who aspire to be CPAs regarding the Board of Accountancy (BOA) and changes in the Board Exams. The forum-symposium was attended by Accounting teachers and students from different schools in the National Capital Region (NCR). CKS College was represented by Mr. George Ong, Mr. Ankiat Byron Co, Mr. Jan Marcus Tang, and third and fourth year BSA students.

Mr. Joel L. Tan-Torres, BOA chairperson, discussed present and future BOA projects. He also discussed important details regarding the CPA Board Examinations and planned changes, such as the system of administration and subjects to be added or removed. Mr. Tan-Torres also discussed the importance of enhancing the quality of Accountancy education, and the need for Accountancy professors to be BOA-accredited.
