CKS College Honors' Circle MOA signing


Chiang Kai Shek College greeted the new academic year with the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for the Honors’ Circle on June 18, 2015, at the Conference Room, CKS College Narra Campus. Now on its third year, the Honors’ Circle is a merit scholarship program which seeks to develop well-rounded achievers in the fields of Business and Accountancy.

The Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Dr. Dory Poa, CKS College president, and Mr. Philip Chan, CKS College Alumni Association, Inc. (CKSCAAI) president. This further cemented the strength of partnership between the two, as they jointly sponsor, support, and sustain the Honors’ Circle program. The MOA signing was witnessed by CKSCAAI officers, CKS College Narra Campus administrators, scholars and their parents or guardians.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Dory Poa expressed the school’s gratitude for the generosity of the CKS College Alumni Association. She reiterated the school’s commitment towards educational excellence and reminded the scholars to stay focused on their vision and strive to make a difference in society. In his inspirational message, Mr. Philip Chan motivated the scholars to persevere and endure in the face of challenges and difficulties.

First batch Honors’ Circle scholar, Ms. Tami Lee Anne Tan (3rd Year, BS in Accountancy),delivered the response from the scholars. She shared the various lessons that she learned through the Honors’ Circle—exploring opportunities beyond one’s comfort zone, believing in oneself, staying focused on one’s dream, and persevering in the face of trial.

The Honors’ Circle scholars are: Hannah Diane Asana (2nd Year, BSA), Mikee Marrielle Chua (3rd Year, BSA), Heather Angelique Co (3rd Year, BSBA- Marketing Management), Lorraine Dyan de Leon (2nd Year, BSA), Janelle Dionisio (1st Year, BSA), Bryann Raymart In (3rd Year, BSA), Dominic Bryan Kua (2nd Year, BSA), Ma. Christeen Lo (2nd Year, BSA), Krizza Gail Monsanto (2nd Year, BS in Accounting Technology), Wilson Paolo Ng Tahn (2nd Year, BSA), Richel Anne Placido (3rd Year, BSA), Kimberly Mae Samson (2nd Year, BSA), Tami Lee Anne Tan (3rd Year, BSA), Vanissa Tanlimco (1st Year, BSBA – Marketing Management), Gladys Ting (2nd Year, BSA), Alexandra Landry Ty (3rd Year, BSA), Shendell Mae Vicher (2nd Year, BSA), and Jasmine Tiffany Wong (3rd Year, BSBA – Marketing Management).

Also launched this year is an expanded arm of the Honors’ Circle, set up under the educational fund in memory of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tomas C. Siatianun. The two scholars under this program are Lorenz See (1st Year, BS in Information Technology) and Celine Rose Tangpos (1st Year, BS in Accountancy).

Dean Datuon Chairs Research Conference Sessions in Harvard


Dr. Raymond Q. Datuon, School of Education’s Dean, OIC of Student Life in Narra Campus, and Head of the Faculty Development Office was selected to chair the sessions on Education and Teaching, and Social Sciences and Education in the 2015 International Social Sciences and Education Research Conference held in Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts on June 9-13, 2015.

As session chair, Dr. Datuon was tasked to moderate the proceedings and introduce the paper presenters of the conference. Likewise, at the end of each presentation, he personally awarded the certificate of participation to the paper presenter.

Then, he also successfully presented his paper about “The Competing Values Framework of Administrators Among Private Colleges in the National Capital Region”. Numerous scholars from different parts of the world attended the said Research Conference.

After the Conference, he took advantage of visiting other Higher Education Institutions in Boston, such as: the Harvard University, Boston University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, Boston College, and Wentworth Institute of Technology. Mostbet India

Orientation Day for Freshmen and Transferees (SY 2015-2016)


Everything should have a good start, and what better way for a freshman to start the school year than to get to know his/her new school and its officials. The Office of Student Life, together with the Student Executive Council, prepared the annual orientation day for freshmen and transferees. The program was held last June 02, 2015 at the 7th floor of the CKS College Narra Campus. A total of 133 students composed the freshmen and transferees who attended the said orientation. The program started with the welcome remarks from the College president Dr. Dory Poa, followed by the Student Council representatives’ presentation of the brief history of the school in relation to the 50th founding anniversary celebration of the college department.

Different offices/ schools discussed their services and offerings.  Among them were the following: the guidance counselor, Ms. Imee Mendoza represented the guidance and counseling office; the college orthodontist, Dr. Mary Ann Kua. Dr. Kua discussed  the services being offered by the clinic; Mr. Lester Hao reminded the students of the proper usage of the college laboratory facilities; Ms. Lhay Asaña, the coordinator of the Marketing and Extension Office presented the college community involvement;  Mrs. Cristina Monsanto, the college discipline officer discussed the school’s general policies; Ms. Althea Chong, the coordinator for student activities presented the various activities and events organized by the school; and the Library department showed an audio-visual presentation, giving the students a virtual tour of the library facility of the college.

Perking the students up was the special surprise related to the celebration of the 50th year of the college, prepared by the Office for Student Life and the Student Executive Council. They gave out prizes for the students wearing blue (to represent the school color) and yellow or gold (as a representation of the golden year of the college). Culminating the affair was the campus tour led by the Student Executive Council officers to familiarize the students with the college building and the students’ dialogue with their respective deans to acquaint themselves with the grading system and course curriculums.
