CKS College JMA's 1st General Assembly: "Personal Branding: Dare to be Different"


The Chiang Kai Shek College Junior Marketing Association (JMA) held its first general assembly for the S.Y. 2016-2017 last Tuesday, July 20, 2016, at the CKS College Narra Campus canteen. JMA invited Mr. Rhyan Malandog, a media practitioner, youth advocate and media scholar, as the event’s guest speaker. The seminar is entitled: “Personal Branding: Dare to be Different”.

The speaker shared his experiences with TV5 as a producer, researcher and script writer. He also mentioned his upcoming project entitled: “Hosting 101”, with TV host, newscaster and radio announcer, Paolo Bediones. The JMA adviser, Ms. Lhay Asaña, was assisted by the JMA president, Ms. Haivy Tan, in presenting the token of appreciation to Mr. Rhyan Malandog.

After the talk, Ms. Tan discussed the action plan of the organization for S.Y. 2016 – 2017, including the schedules of the upcoming seminars. Furthermore, JMA VP External, Ms. Valerie de Leon, presented the action plan of the Philippine Junior Marketing Association, the national federation of all Junior Marketing Associations, for the S.Y. 2016 - 2017 and encouraged the members to be involved with the PJMA’s events and be exposed to new opportunities.

The most exciting part of the general assembly was the exciting games and raffle prizes. The quiz bee gave the participants a chance to showcase their learnings from their marketing subjects.

The sponsors for the event were Rackey Crystal Top Corporation, Happy Belly’s Kitchen, and Tony and Jackey Salon. The hosts of the event were Mr. RC de Guzman and Ms. AJ Wang. The JMA officers ended the program thanking everyone who supported, participated in, and cooperated in the said event.

CKS College Honors' Circle MOA Signing 2016


The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for the Honors’ Circle was  held on July 21, 2016, at the Conference Room, CKS College Narra Campus. Now on its fourth year, the Honors’ Circle is a merit scholarship program which seeks to develop and train high achieving students in the fields of Business and Accountancy.

The Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Dr. Dory Poa, CKS College president, and Ms. Margarita Go, CKS College Alumni Association, Inc. (CKSCAAI) president. This further cemented the strength of partnership between the two, as they jointly sponsor, support, and sustain the Honors’ Circle program. The MOA signing was witnessed by CKSCAAI officers, CKSC Collegiate Alumni Club Officers, CKS College Narra Campus administrators, scholars and their parents or guardians.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Maribel Chan, the Deans' Council OIC and Dean of the School of Business, Accountancy, and HRM, expressed the schools' and the scholars' appreciation and gratitude to the various CKSCAAI presidents (Mr. Alberto Tan Lee, Mr. Philip Chan, and Mrs. Margarita Go) over the past four years, the CKSCAAI officers, and the CKS College administrators who were instrumental to the establishment and growth of the Honors' Circle Program. She further exhorted the scholars present to continue on in the program with a positive attitude, and be strengthened and empowered by the fact that the College and the CKSCAAI saw the potential and the good in them.

Atty. Danny Chan, the CKS College Vice President and Legal Counsel, in his inspirational message, congratulated the first batch of scholars who shall be graduating by the end of the school year. He shared how he first met the scholars on their first year and how he is proud to see that most scholars have persevered and stayed successfully in the Honors' Circle Program.

First batch Honors' Circle scholar Jasmine Wong (4th Year, BSBA- Marketing Management), delivered the response from scholars. She shared the various lessons she learnied over the past four years as a scholar, and how she feels infinitely grateful to be given the opportunity to explore and grow her potential.

The Honors' Circle scholars are: Hannah Diane Asana (3rd Year, BSA), Mikee Marrielle Chua (4th Year, BSA), Heather Angelique Co (4th Year, BSBA-Marketing Management), Janelle Wee Dionisio (2nd Year, BSA), Lorraine Dyan de Leon (3rd Year, BSA), Bryann Raymart In (4th Year, BSA), Dominic Bryan Kua (3rd Year, BSA), Ma. Christeen Lo (3rd Year, BSA), Krizza Gail Monsanto (3rd Year, BS in Accounting Technology), Wilson Paolo Ng Tahn (3rd Year, BSA), Richel Anne Placido (4th Year, BSA), Kimberly Mae Samson (3rd Year, BSA), Tami Lee Anne Tan (4th Year, BSA), Vanissa Tanlimco (3rd Year, BSBA- Marketing Management), Gladys Ting (3rd Year BSA), Alexandra LAndry Ty (4th Year, BSA), Shendell Mae Vicher (3rd Year, BSA), and Jasmine Tiffany Wong (4th Year, Marketing Management).

CKS College JPIA's General Assembly


Last Tuesday, July 12, 2016, the CKS College Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants held their annual General Assembly entitled: “Afternoon Slumber: To Celebrate Another Year of Sleepless Nights.” The event was open to all BS Accountancy and BS Accounting Technology students of the college; moreover students from other courses are also welcomed to join.Upon entering the venue, each guest was given a puzzle piece that would be later used in the event. The program started with an invocation and was hosted by Michael Christian Ty, a third year JPIA member. After welcoming the guest, an audio visual presentation introducing this year’s JPIA Officers was shown followed by an inspirational speech from Mr. Ankiat Byron Co, the JPIA Adviser. In his speech he mentioned his own journey to becoming a CPA and reminded everyone to continue to pursue their goals. Furthermore, he is looking forward to seeing everyone’s picture in the tarpaulin congratulating us students as CPAs.

After Mr. Co, Ms. Iris Altura, JPIA’s president, gave a short speech and introduced the upcoming events prepared by the organization for the members. The officers prepared fun and exciting games for the guests to enjoy. The said games were the Puzzle game, Tic Tac ToeGoand the Whisper Game. Food and drinks were served after the games. When everyone was done with their snacks, awarding of the prizes began followed by a photo opt with the officers. The event ended at 5:00 pm and the officers were glad that it was a success.

Dr. Datuon Delivers Keynote Speech in Suzhou


             Dr. Raymond Q. Datuon, Dean of Education and Head of the Senior High School Program and Faculty and Staff Development Office gave a keynote speech in the 3rd International Conference on Economics and Management (ICEM 2016) held last July 2-3, 2016 at Suzhou New Century Hotel, Suzhou, Jiangsu, China.

           

The conference aimed in bringing researchers and students from the areas of economics and management. The ICEM 2016 provides a forum for debate, discussion and promotion of economics and management. It is an opportunity for those who are passionate about the fields to come together and debate the issues that matter.       

         In addition, Dr. Datuon was appointed as Co-Chair of the International Committee Board of the said conference along with other scholars from different countries.

            Dr. Datuon presented his paper entitled, “The Competing Values Framework of Administrators Among Private Colleges in the National Capital Region.”

            This is a very important milestone for the CKS for having one of its academic personnel's expertise recognized and given the great chance to deliver a keynote speech in an international conference.

Recognition Program for New CPAs


A recognition program for October 2015 and May 2016 CKSian Licensure Passers was held at the CKS College Narra Campus last July 2, 2016.

In her welcome remarks, Ms. Maribel Chan, the OIC of the Dean’s Council and the Dean of the School of Business, Accountancy, and HRM, warmly acknowledged the attendees, which consisted of the CKS College Board of Trustees, Administrators, Alumni Association, Collegiate Alumni Club, faculty and staff, parents, BSA students, CPA reviewees, and most importantly, the honorees, the new CPA Batch.

Dr. Dory Poa, CKS College president, delivered her inspirational speech, acknowledging the efforts of faculty members in producing CPA passers and in helping maintain a good passing rate for CKS College over the years.

Gold medals and certificates of recognition were given to the CPA board passers. Mr. Ankiat Byron Co, the Coordinator of the CKS College accounting program, presented the new CPA’s who were able to attend the recognition program:

Ms. Lynnette Chung, May 2015 CPA Licensure Exam passer, delivered the response from new CPA’s. She acknowledged and expressed gratitude to CKS College administrators and faculty members who helped mold and shape her over the years in her journey towards becoming a CPA. She encouraged those present to continue to persevere in the pursuance of their goals and dreams.

It was a day filled with inspiration as aspiring CPA’s from recent CKS College BSA graduates and CKSC BSA students were motivated and inspired by the feat of the board exam passers and achievers.
