Senator Angara Inspires CKS College Batch 2016

“Many of you will become taipans in a matter of time.” This is the inspiring message of Hon. Sen. Edgardo J. Angara to the CKS College Batch 2016 during the commencement exercises held in the Main Auditorium at the CKS College P. Algue Campus last April 30, 2016.

Dr. Dory Poa, CKS College President, introduced the guest speaker by recalling how she met Sen. Angara when she was still a professor then at the University of the Philippines(UP), Diliman, Quezon City. She vividly remembers his tremendous humility and dedication as UP President, most especially when they were in China for an official trip.

Sen. Angara reiterated the importance of acquiring 21^st Century skills namely, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. He said that the CKS College graduate is fortunate for being multilingual because knowing four languages is an edge in the market today. Since CKS College graduates are not only English and Filipino speakers, their fluency in Mandarin and Fookienese enables them to survive in today’s global competition.

Sen. Angara said he admires the CKS College for having produced business leaders like Lucio Tan, Henry Sy, Tony Tan Caktiong, and George Ty. He added, “It is a milestone for you to graduate from an outstanding institution that has produced Chinese- Filipino entrepreneurs and philanthropists."

170 graduates from the Chiang Kai Shek College School of Graduate Studies, School of Business, Accountancy, and HRM, School of Education, and School of Information Technology Education were confirmed and given their diplomas, as they were ushered into the industry to make a positive difference. The top graduate of the batch is Johanna Pauline Lamzon (Bachelor of Secondary Education, Magna Cum Laude), followed by Rosie Sy (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - Major in Marketing Management, Magna Cum Laude), and Samantha Corpin (Bachelor of Science in Accountancy). Ms. Lamzon, Ms. Sy, and Ms. Corpin were also granted the Late Chua Tan Bi Tin (Alumni Batch 20) Achievement Award. Ms. Lamzon was awarded the Julian Cotio Award for Academic Excellence, and Ms. Corpin was was given the Tan Lin Lay Award for Top Graduates in Accountancy.

中正學院大學部隆重舉行2015-2016年度畢業典禮前菲大校長、參議員洪加拉擔任主講人嘉言勉勵畢業生

菲律濱中正學院訊：2016年4月30日，中正學院大學部在主校區五樓大禮堂隆重舉行「中正大學部2015-2016年度畢業典禮」。特邀前菲律濱大學校長暨前參議員洪加拉(Edgardo J.Angara,Sr)閣下擔任主講貴賓，中正董事會張秀金董事長、章肇寧名譽董事長、林瑩鏡執行副董事長、尤扶西副董事長、陳義維副董事長、郭樹垣董事、曾國翔董事，潘露莉校長、曾煥賢副校長，校友總會郭冰瑩會長、陳建衛副會長等親臨指導；本學年共有一百七十名學生被授予碩士、學士學位，其中修畢研究所課程獲得行政碩士學位的是: 許根吉(Co, Ankiat Byron V.)，獲得教育管理碩士學位的有：Calugay, Jocelyn P. 、Vidal, Nicetas G.、王永新( Wang, Yong Xin)，當天早晨學生家長、中正大學各部門主管、教師代表等齊聚中正紀念堂共同見證了這莊嚴的盛會。

九點正，畢業典禮準時開始，在輕快的進行曲中，身著碩士袍、學士袍的畢業生在導師的引導下依次步入會場。研究所主任蔡崢勇博士、商學系曾慧慧主任、教育系主任杜磊盟(Raymond Datuon)博士、科技系翁偉順主任向大會報告各系畢業生人數，經校長潘露莉博士確認後，全體畢業生完成加冕儀式。

接著潘露莉校長鄭重地向大家介紹大會主講人──前菲大校長暨前參議員洪加拉(Edgardo J.Angara,Sr)閣下。她說，洪加拉參議員是一位身兼教育、律師、銀行家、農民和資深參議員多重角色的傳奇人物。他於1971年成為全國制憲會議代表之一。一年後，他和一群志同道合的同學創立了一間「洪加拉律師事務所」，後來成為全國最好的律師事務所之一。他是一位傑出的領導者，於1975年成為菲律濱律師協會的主席，1979年他成為菲律賓IBP主席，1980年被選為世界上最大的區域性法律協會之一──東南亞國家聯盟(東盟)法律協會主席。1981-1987年洪加拉先生擔任菲律濱大學校長。任內推行了關於加強通識教育、七年制醫學課程設置、多校區大學管理等一系列的改革，為菲大爭得了財政自主權，確立了菲大成為國家教育中心的地位。1980年代初潘校長在菲大亞洲中心擔任助教期間曾協助菲大組團訪問中國時與當時任校長的洪加拉有多方的接觸，他也是第一位訪問中國的菲大校長。在那次訪問期間，潘校長發現洪加拉校長是一位溫文爾雅、謙遜、自律和行事專注的領袖。例如在中國訪問期間，團隊集合時，他總是第一個到的，並且溫和、善良、有禮貌地對待一個名不見經傳的小助教。洪加拉的校長生涯,直到1987年他第一次當選為參議員為止。在連續擔任兩屆參議員之後，他於1998 - 1999擔任菲律賓國家銀行主席，1999 - 2000年擔任農業部部長，2001年和2007年又連續兩次當選參議員，共擔任了四屆二十四年的參議員。同時1993 - 1995年間還擔任參議院議長，並先後擔任過教育、藝術和文化、科學和技術等多個委員會的主席。他在漫長的參議員職業生涯中，推動通過了包括高中義務教育、成立高等教育委員會和技術教育與技能發展署、國家健康保險法案、老年人優惠、農業和漁業現代化法案、可再生能源法和採購改革法案等涉及農業、教育、衛生、科技、金融改革、社會福利等諸多領域，直接影響數以百萬計的菲律濱人的生活和具有里程碑意義的許多法律。同時，他通過立法設立了國家博物館、國家文化和藝術委員會和Natatanging Manlilikha獎，專門獎勵傑出的菲律賓民間和傳統藝術家，並撰寫了發展全國圖書出版產業和國家文化遺產保護等多部法律。洪加拉參議員自稱是來自太平洋濱奧羅拉省農村的男孩，他非常瞭解農民和漁民生活的艱辛，因此他十分重視各種社會、經濟和教育改革中的社會平等問題。現在，儘管他已從政府機構退休了,但他每天依然在為各種專業和慈善活動而忙碌著。他親自負責菲大為他設立的洪加拉法學和經濟學中心的專案和計畫等。最近，他還成功地把世界著名皇家馬德里足球俱樂部的教練聘來菲律濱訓練公立學校的學生，而馬尼拉灣由菲律賓慈善家施至成出資興建的帆船博物館也是他最新傑作之一。在他的整個職業生涯中從未尋求榮耀和成為媒體關注的焦點，他總是平靜地做好每一項的工作，他所推動通過的無數高質量的法律就是他無私工作的最大成果。

潘校長表示，能夠有幸邀請到他擔任主講嘉賓，是本校的榮耀，也是當天所有畢業生的榮耀。

在熱烈的掌聲中，前參議員洪加拉閣下發表了精彩的演講。演講中，洪加拉參議員首先向畢業生、導師及家長們表示祝賀，並感謝潘校長的溢美之詞。他深情回顧了與潘校長等中正領導交往多年的趣事，他說中正學院是一所非常著名的學府，培養了諸如陳永栽、施至成、鄭少堅、陳覺中、施恭旗等一大批享譽全菲的大富豪和慈善家，大家今天畢業於這樣一所著名大學是非常榮幸的，希望大家也能成為像他們一樣的大企業家，成功之後也要向他們一樣為母校、為祖國的建設貢獻力量。

洪加拉參議員接著說，今天大家也是非常幸運的一代，因為大家生活在菲律濱的新時代，這個日新月異的新時代將為青年世代的發展提供新的機遇，比如在東盟一體化的進程中，菲律賓的平均年齡只有26歲，是東南亞最年輕化的國家，當其他國家陷入老齡化的困境中時，我們的國家正享受著人口紅利帶來的重大發展機遇，這個機遇也是畢業生們人生中最重要的機遇。

洪加拉參議員指出，潘露莉校長提出的培養兼具英文、中文、菲文，熟練掌握英語、菲語、普通話、閩南話的「三文四語」的目標不僅是中正學院辦學的特色，也是未來菲律濱要造就更多能在全球資訊時代具有「多語」競爭力優秀人才之重要保證。

洪加拉參議員最後向全體畢業生提出「四C」共勉——即溝通能力（communication）、合作精神（cooperation）、深思習慣（contemplate）和創造力（creativity），其中以創造力（creativity）最為重要，因為它是引導人們走向成功的基礎。

洪加拉參議員的精彩演講結束時，全體畢業生及家長自動地站起來用最熱烈的掌聲表達了他們發自肺腑的感謝。隨後潘露莉校長代表中正學院向洪加拉參議員致贈感謝狀。

校長潘露莉博士在各科系主任的協助下，為全體畢業生逐一撥穗和頒發證書為畢業典禮掀起最高潮。2016年度以「大榮譽」(Magna Cum Laude)成績畢業的有教育系2+2方案的洪小玲(Lamzon, Johanna Pauline R.)和商科行政管理系的許芷茵(Sy, Rosie) ，以「榮譽」(Cum Laude)成績畢業的是Corpin, Samantha Joyce T.，2015-2016年度優秀學生以及獲忠誠獎的畢業生皆得到校方的獎勵，教育系「大榮譽」畢業生洪小玲獲得前院長施約安娜令先尊「許佛然獎學金」，第廿屆故陳美珍校友家屬頒發了獎金給畢業成績最優的洪小玲、許芷茵和Corpin, Samantha Joyce T.三位同學，「蔡仁耐老師獎勵金」則頒給會計專業第一名──Corpin, Samantha Joyce T. Corpin, Samantha Joyce T.。現場家長和親友們紛紛拿出相機記錄下這難忘的一刻。

2016年度優秀畢業生，「2+2」華語師範專業畢業生洪小鈴代表畢業生在致謝辭中首先感謝學校和老師的辛勤栽培，感謝父母的悉心照顧和無私支援。她說，記得四年前當她從納卯來到中正學習，第一次做中文程度評估考試時，只認得自己的姓名和老師這兩個詞，然而她自稱非常幸運，雖然家境貧寒，但是由於有母校「詩田獎學金」的資助今天終於以優秀的成績畢業，母校的這份恩澤將永銘於心，並將激勵她日後為華文教育事業奉獻一己之心力。

2016屆畢業生代表向母校捐贈紀念後，2016屆優秀畢業生許芷茵帶領全體畢業生宣誓效忠母校；隨後校友總會郭冰瑩會長邀請並祝賀全體畢業生加入中正學院校友總會；隆重的2015-2016年度大學畢業典禮就在中正校歌聲中圓滿落幕。

50 Years of Moving Forward: Inspiration for Excellence

The tertiary division of Chiang Kai Shek College celebrated its 50th year anniversary on February 24, 2016, through a mini-concert entitled “50 Years of Moving Forward: Inspiration for Excellence.” A landmark event, it brought together almost 300 CKSians to celebrate the legacy of excellence that has marked the past half century. Students, faculty members, school administrators, office personnel, and College alumni connected and reconnected to celebrate as a family at the Benjamin Chua Jr. Gymnasium (Narra Campus), which was converted into a concert hall.

Chiang Kai Shek College, which already is an institution of 76 years, first offered its college degree program in 1965. Over the years, many have walked the halls of CKS College. The goal of the event was to bring together students and alumni to ignite their school spirit as they celebrate as one. The mini-concert is a collaboration among CKS College students, alumni, and administrators. It was directed by Ian Dean Lorenos (BSBA-Management & BSBA Marketing Management, CKS College Batch 2005), with photo coverage by Mark Ryan Alvarez (BSBA-Management, CKS College Batch 2005).

The mini-concert was hosted by Mary Grace Khu (BSBA - Marketing Management, Batch 2015) of Chinoy TV. The pre-show started at 6PM with live performances from the local band Lhazagna, which comprised Chris Rey, Casesar Rey, Ian Bright Chan, and Lhay Asana (BS in Accounting Technology, CKS College Batch 2013). The actual program commenced at 7PM, with the CKS College Lion Dance team and with an audio-visual presentation of video greetings from CKS College students, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and alumni. Chiang Kai Shek College president, Dr. Dory Poa delivered the opening remarks and welcomed everyone to the celebration.

Inspirational performances were rendered by CKS College alumni and students. Among the performers were Mary Grace Khu (BSBA - Marketing Management, CKS College Batch 2015) of Chinoy TV, Kevin Villanueva (BSBA - Management, CKS College Batch 2016) of G-Force, Jimmy Erinje Chung (BSBA – Management, CKS College Batch 2012), Danah Asana (BS in Accountancy, CKS College Batch 2018), Jaymark Roca (BS in Accountancy, CKS College Batch 2018), Peter John Ko (BSBA – Management, CKS College Batch 2015), Jimcen Young (BSBA- Management, CKS College Batch 2017), the CKS College Chinese Dance Troupe, and the CKS College Wushu Team. Mr. Timothy Yap-- Regal films actor, model, and Mr. Chinatown 2014 2nd runner-up, made a special appearance. Also bringing the crowd to their feet were special celebrity guest performers, Ms. Morissette Amon-- awarded as the New Female Recording Artist of the Year by the 7th PMPC Star Awards for Music and dubbed “The Next Big Diva”, and Mr. Bugoy Cariño-- "Alagwa" and Going Bulilit star and ABS-CBN artist.
