Basic Human Rights 101


Last Saturday, November 28, 2020, the NSTP01 class under Mr. Ian Mark Arevalo conducted a seminar regarding the Basic Human Rights entitled "Human Rights 101".
 
In line with their topic all about the 1987 constitution, they invited Atty. Beverly Castillo-Pidlaoan as their guest speaker. Atty Pidlaoan served in the Commission on Human Rights and is currently the clerk of court in the Regional Trial Court. The speaker talked about the basic Human Rights and its history. The one hour seminar was filled with activities that will help the students internalize human rights. The seminar ended with a question and answer regarding the experiences of the students.
 
 

"ROTARACT: Training Seminar for the Voters' Assistance Campaign"


Last October 30, 2020, the Rotaract Club of Makati held a webinar entitled, "ROTARACT: Training Seminar for the Voters' Assistance Campaign", having the Comelec Spokesman and Director, Education and Information Department, Mr. James Jimenez, as the resource speaker. The webinar was held via zoom with the participation of more than 100 participants coming from the other Rotaract clubs in the metro including Rotaract of Chiang Kai Shek College. The 1 hour and 45 minutes webinar is about the upcoming 2022 Philippine Elections. It also discussed the process for the voting registrations in the new normal.

 

 

 

 

 

Self and Mental Health Awareness Seminar


The National service Training Program (NSTP) class of CKS College Narra Campus conducted a seminar regarding "Mental Health Awareness," last 26th of September.  With the title "Be CKSC's Best through Self and Mental Health Awareness," it was organized by the class officers headed by Mr. Ian Mark Arevalo and Mr. Ankiat Co.

Ms. Linda Cangayao of San Beda Guidance and Counselling Department, headed the 1 hour talk. The seminar tackled the issues and problems in the mental health awareness in the Philippines; this mainly revolved from how students should learn to balance workload and leisure to how teens should cope up with friends that are struggling for the benefit of their own mental health. Ms. Linda also addressed some of the personal issues and struggles of a typical college student; for example, college students should be wary in choosing their circle of friends for this may not only benefit them but could also harm them.

Ms. Linda ended with the note of the 3L’s for mental health safety: Look, listen, and link. The seminar ended at exactly 4:36pm with no less than 40 participants.

Prof Asana and Prof Co Presents Paper in ICMEM Bandung Indonesia


Despite the challenges brought by the pandemic, Prof Jessica Lhay Asana and Prof Ankiat Byron Co, CKS College Program Chairs for Business and Accountancy Programs successfully presented their paper entitled “The Influence of Beauty Vloggers on Building Consumer Brand Awareness of Cosmetic Products” during the 5th International Conference on Management in Emerging Markets (ICMEM) 2020 in School of Business and Management Institute Teknologi Bandung (SBMITB), Indonesia last August 3 – 5, 2020. The theme of the conference was “Sustainable Development: Orchestrating Business to Respond to Society’s Latest Challenges”.

The said conference was attended by Economics, Business, and Management scholars from different parts of the world. Their paper was included in the ICMEM book of proceedings (ISBN 978-623-92201-1-2).

Their participation in the conference enabled them to interact, exchange ideas, and benchmark with great academicians from different universities. Truly, the conference was a great learning experience.

Huawei ICT Academy Partners with CKS College


CKS College enters into a partnership project with Huawei ICT Academy. A memorandum of agreement was signed between the two parties last March 11, 2020. Through this partnership, CKS College will deliver Huawei ICT technologies and courses, encourage students to get certified by Huawei, and cultivate professionals with practical skills for the world and ICT industry chain. CKSian faculty members and students will be equipped with necessary skills through certifications in different courses offered by Huawei ICT Academy.
