Last July 25, 2014, the marketing students of CKS College attended the Strategic Marketing Conference for Students at the CCF, Pasig.
The program started with an opening prayer led by Pastor Enrique Santhou and with the singing of the National Anthem. The first speaker, Ms. Yayu Javier, President of the Philippine Marketing Association, talked about the ASEAN 2015. She emphasized that being a marketeer, one should be competitive to gain an edge over others. The second speaker, Ms. Mary Faith Abano, PMA VP for Youth and Academe, talked about the character types and the careers that suit each type. The third speaker, Mr. Jonathan Yabut, Chief of Staff of AirAsia, Tony’s Apprentice, talked about his life and the reality of life. The fourth speaker, Ms. Darlyn Ty, President and CEO of Belle De Jour, talked about start and the success of Belle De Jour, a planner for Filipino fashionistas for eight consecutive years. Before proceeding to the next speaker, there was a one-hour lunch break.
The conference resumed at 2pm with the fifth speaker, Ms. Pinky Yee, Marketing Director at Goldilocks Bakeshop, who talked about re-branding. She emphasized the process of re-branding and cited one of the products of Goldilocks Bakeshop that they re-branded and the process that it underwent. The sixth speaker, Mr. Donald Lim, Chief Digital Officer of ABS CBN Broadcasting Company, talked about creating media campaign. He presented some examples of media campaigns that created a great impact to viewers. The seventh speaker Mr. Adam Bookless, CEO, British American Tabacco, talked about winning as an underdog. The eighth speaker, Mr. Edgar Allan Caper, Marketing Manager of Pizza Hut Philippines, talked about the ways to achieve success in life. He told the audience that in order to be successful, one should strive hard and find the grit. The ninth speaker, Mr. Cax Mayuga, Product Manager- Carbonated Soft drinks and Energy Drinks at Pepsi Company, talked about the importance of marketing in his life and how marketing has changed his life. Lastly, Mr. Henry Tenedero, President of Center for Learning and Teaching Styles Philippines, emphasized that studying should be complemented by experience and when one gets to the workplace, both would prove valuable.
