Frosh Fest : Friday the 13th

Last June 13, 2014, the Chiang Kai Shek College-Faculty of Business, Arts, and Sciences Student Executive Council held its Frosh Fest, the first event of the council for theAcademic Year 20142015, at the 7th floor of the CKS College campus. The Frosh Fest has been a tradition in the campus as a welcome party for the freshmen, and it aims to help the students feel comfortable and part of the CKSCian family. A total of one hundred twenty (120) freshmen and bridging program students attended the event.

Starting the program, Ms. Mary Grace Khu delivered the formal introduction and served as the master of ceremonies. Ms. Regine Mae Lao, Student Executive Council Programs Coordinator, delivered the opening remarks and welcomed the new members of the CKSCian family. Taking advantage of the program, Sharamain Esteban, Student Executive Council President, introduced the various student and academic organizations, and the council’s action plan for the events and programs for the academic year. Ms. Esteban called upon the representatives of the student and academic organizations to discuss the purpose, activities, and benefits of being a member of th eorganizations, and took the event as a chance for the organizations to recruit new members.

The attendees of the Welcome Part played three games. They were discretely and randomly grouped with other participants upon registration. The games played involved promoting and inculcating the importance of unity, sportsmanship, and smooth interpersonal relationships among students. For the first game entitled “Group Yourselves”, team white and team green tied up as winners. For the second game entitled “Superlative”, team violet dominated the round. For the third game entitled “Spelling Game”, team green once again stood out against other teams.

After the participants had played the three games, the CKS College Dance Troupe, led by NicoleHarvey Garcia, former lead choreographer of the dance troupe and also alumna of CKS College, presented an intermission number. After the intermission number, the organizers awarded the winners of each game simple prizes, which were shared among members of the winning teams.

Ending the FROSH FEST 2014, the Master of Ceremonies herself, Ms. Mary Grace Khu, delivered the closing message.
