CKSCAA CCTV Turnover Ceremony

The Chiang Kai Shek College Alumni Association, Inc. (CKSCAAI) continues to show its unwavering support to Chiang Kai Shek College through its generous contributions to the betterment of the institution.

Last October 17, 2013, a simple turnover ceremony was held at the CKS College Conference Room to mark CKSCAAI's donation of CCTV cameras installed at the CKS College Narra Campus. The ceremony was attended by officers of the CKSCAAI-- led by CKSC Alumni Association President, Mr. Albert Tan Lee, and administrators of CKSC and CKS College-- led by CKSC President, Dr. Dory Poa.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Lee once again re-affirmed the support of CKSCAAI for CKSC's endeavors and ventures. He recognized and acknowledged the efforts of his alma mater to continuously offer excellence in education. Dr. Dory Poa, in behalf of CKSC, expressed her profound thanks to the CKSC Alumni Association officers and members for their active expression of profound love through their generous donation.

Mr. Clyde Tan, Head of the CKSC IT Services Department and Dean of IT Education at CKS College, presented the various ways through which the CCTV cameras, installed at strategic locations within the Narra campus, can benefit FBAS students, parents, faculty members, staff, and administrators. Mr. Tan said it is part of CKSC's responsibility to assure parents that their children, whom they entrust the school with, are safe while inside the campus. Citing how US research studies have shown lower incidences of crime in streets with CCTV cameras, Mr. Tan emphasized the importance of CKSC Alumni Association's donation in helping provide a secure environment parents would feel comfortable leaving their children in.

Additionally, Mr. Tan demonstrated the various ways by which the CCTV camera views can be accessed. One is through TV and computer monitors installed in the CCTV Center inside the FBAS office. Another is through the CKS College website, in which images captured from the CCTV cameras facing the street are uploaded and refreshed every 15 seconds-- thus making it more convenient for anyone to check traffic or possible flooding outside the Narra campus. CCTV camera views can also be accessed remotely, via computer or via tablets, so that CKSC administrators can check and monitor activities, developments, and incidents within the college.
