Olivia Mae Sy, a third year BSIT student, won second place in the First Digital Arts Contest 2008 held at Letran College Auditorium last December 16, 2008. It was the first Digital Arts Contest organized by the Letran Institute of Information Technology with 20 participants from schools throughtout Metro Manila. First place was won by Far Eastern University and the third by Letran College.
Part of the mechanics of the contest required the participants to produce a banner/poster format image on the theme "Intramuros' Cultural Heritage Revisited...A Fusion With Digital Arts." Five pictures were provided by the organizer and the contestants used these pictures as raw resources. With the Adobe Photoshop CS3 Software, final images were produced based on the contestants interpretation of the topic.
After the contest, Olivia Mae commented: "I won not only with the belief that I proved the school right in putting half their stake on me, but also with renewed confidence on my skills as a graphic designer. I wouldn't have found this out if the school hadn't invited me in the first place."
Ms. Marian Tejada Chua, the coach and also the multimedia professor of CKSC, has this to say: "Thanks to the vailability of the recently acquired Adobe Production Premium CS3 in our computer laboratories. With this software, students are able to develop their skills in multimedia contents creation and eventual exploration in digital arts." Indeed a valid statement as attested by this recent achievement.
