CKS College endeavors to create a culture which supports lifelong learning amongst students, faculty, administrators, and alumni. In line with this, the Marketing and Extension Office has lined up prominent speakers from the industry to share their insights through the CKS College Lecture Series.

The first lecture in the series featured Mr. Tomas Medina, who spoke on the topic “Bridging the Industry-Academe Gap” last October 3, 2017. An alumnus of CKS College, Mr. Medina is a Filipino who takes pride in having learned not only to speak, read, and write Chinese Putonghua and Fookien, but also to embrace the Filipino-Chinese culture and thinking.

Mr. Medina shared about how his grasp of various languages, especially the Chinese language, helped him move up from being an entry-level employee to an entrepreneur and owner of his own business. Additionally, he talked about the value of hard work and perseverance. To succeed in the industry, one has to have the right attitude and the flexibility to adapt to change. He also reminded the audience of the need to develop various employable skills, such as interpersonal skills, communication skills, leadership and management skills, critical thinking, and time management.
