Last August 30, 2017, Chiang Kai Shek College (CKS College) celebrated Buwan ng Wika with the National Theme “FILIPINO: WIKANG MAPAGBAGO”. The celebration aims to unite the CKS College community in valuing and appreciating the Filipino Language, and enhancing and strengthening the use of it.
With the help of the students, teachers, and administration of the College, spearheaded by the Society of Motivators, Achievers, and Responsible Teachers (SMART) alongside the Senior High School Student Government, it was indeed a success!
The event featured different kinds of performances and activities: (1) Local games like Sack Race and Dragon’s Tail; (2) Presentations of song and dance numbers by the students of the School of Education; and (3) Pageant to determine this year’s Lakan and Lakambini.
Lakan at Lakambini served as the highlight of the occasion, as students showcased not only their guises, but also their inherent Filipino talents, and cognitive ability. 7 pairs of delegates from different degree programs, and Senior High School Strands graced the pageant and showcased their abilities and proficiencies to win this year’s most coveted titles.
The program ended with the announcement of the winners of the pageant, with Mr. Kirk Raymond Chan from Management winning the Lakan 2017 title and Ms. Marianne Santos of Senior High School HUMMS strand taking home the Lakambini 2017 crown.
Truly, the Filipino Language is a dynamic and resilient language. Despite the ever-changing world that we live in, there is one thing that remains certain and true--our Filipino attributes that stand the test of time.
