Drug Abuse Prevention and Control

The CKSC Health Services Department, in coordination with Dr. Raymond Q. Datuon, head of the Senior High School Program, and Mr. Allan Rey Villaverde, associate dean of Student Life Office (Narra Campus), conducted a lecture and discussion on "Drug Abuse Prevention and Control" last January 20, 2017 at the main auditorium. 

 
The speaker is Dr. Maria Stephanie Fay Samadan-Cagayan, MD, FPOGS, FPSECP, FPSSTD, professor 7, vice chair, and concurrent assistant chair for academics, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine and president of the Philippine Society of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology. Dr. Cagayan discussed about the risk factors and causes of substance abuse as with tobacco (cigarettes), alcohol, caffeine, and drugs, Illicit drugs use focusing on shabu, marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, etc., its physical and mental effects, psychological and emotional effects, were explained and discussed during the lecture. 
 
 
A total of 600 students from Grades 11 and 12 attended this seminar. Our senior high school students were very attentive and interested with this topic that so many of them were raising questions. They admitted to have gained more knowledge on substance and drug abuse, its prevention, and control.
